The Event

TnT Landing Gear Products, Ltd. and the TnT Electric Company hosted this new event in 2005 which  pitted world-class pilots and their electric driven aircraft against an array of obstacles and maneuvers.  On Saturday April 8, 2006, we initiated the second annual E-X Games.  A competitive mix of racing against the clock and aerobatics staged on a torture course, all with indoor aircraft and very competitive pilots.  The obstacle course for 2006 has been revised and will be totally new to the contestants.  Contestants for the 2006 E-X Games are listed below and in no particular order:

E-X Games Judging Criteria

2006 E-X Games Rules/Judging Criteria

 Basic Elements

1.      It will be the goal of each pilot to complete the course in the order given and in the fastest adjusted time. There are 7 elements (obstacles) to the course ... the elements must be attempted in the order given.  If an element is missed, not achieved, bypassed, etc., the pilot can go back and re-attempt.

Judging Criteria

1.      The judge(s) will keep the elapsed time of each pilots flight from the start of the flight and until the course is deemed complete.

2.    The judges will insure that all obstacles are met with in satisfactory manner. The judge(s) will flag any irregularity and penalty time will be issued to the pilots final time for that round.

3.    The judge(s) will insure that the course obstacles are flown in the proper sequence. The judge(s) will flag or otherwise designate which obstacles have been completed successfully or "missed".  Each completion of an obstacle will gain the pilot a 10 second deduction to his total time for the round.  Each "miss" of an obstacle will cause a 10 second penalty to be added to his total time for the round.

4.    There will be no penalty for the aircraft hitting the ground.  The pilot can switch to an alternate aircraft at any time of his choosing during his round. The pilot's pit crew can carry as many aircraft as is deemed necessary for the pilot to complete the round.

5.    It the aircraft is on the ground, it will be OK for the pilot to touch the aircraft for purposes of adjustment or repair. The clock will continue to run during this time. The judge(s) can flag the end of a pilots flight if any adjustment or repair is deemed extensive (30 seconds). There will be a maximum of one such repair per round.

Disqualification

1.      If the aircraft cannot complete the course, the flight will be disqualified.

2.      If the crew/assistants touch the transmitter at any time during the flight.

Flight Order

The flight order will be determined at the pilots meeting on the evening of the competition.

Aircraft

1.      The pilot may use multiple planes and can switch aircraft back and forth during the competition.

2.      Airplanes must be operated by battery-powered electric motors.

3.      Fixed wing aircraft only.

4.      A 20 ounce maximum weigh limit (ready to fly).

5.      Must use a rubber spinner to cover prop shaft. The use of a "prop saver" is an acceptable alternative (This is Mandatory).

6.      Wing, stab and elevators of any construction.

7.      Fuselage may be built up, of any construction.

8.      Any additional control surfaces are allowed.

9.  No Scale outline required.

10.  In the event an airplane is damaged by contacting the floor or ceiling, the pilot will be asked to land

  Music

          1.  Music is not required of the competitor.
